If you dig the sounds of the Three O’Clock and Rain Parade you’re most likely going to dig this pop/psych gem, produced by Mark Wirtz.

The first long player from these Milwaukee masters of the psychedelic, released on the French Lolita label in 1984. This album is certainly a nod and a wink to the psychedelic days of the Pretty Things, they even perform a great cover version of Alexander.

As promised, Vile Vinyl vol. 2. Here is volume 1 of a two volume series, stay tuned for #2. There are some really great songs on these two albums. Sure there are a few you've heard a thousand times before like Melvin and Thoughts of A Madman, but I don’t see any harm in that. So dig the vileness (and the Sloane artwork too)!

Great kick ass rock and roll record from The Hard Feelings. If you dig great production and studio excellence look elsewhere. But if you are in the mood for some stompin’ lo-fi rock ‘n’ roll this one will do nicely. Released on Beer Land Records, you just know it’s gotta be good.

Sadly this 15th disc was the last of the Teenage Shutdown compilations, and as always this one does not disappoint. Perhaps someday they will resurrect the series and crank out many more volumes.

Okay nothing on here is probably going to touch Gonn and their greatness, but I’m sure you can still find something to like on here.

In my mind The Cynics can do no wrong, hands down my favorite garage band. Never a flashy or gimmicky band, The Cynics were more concerned with rockin’ our asses off, which they do with conviction. While other garage bands were more concerned about looking retro and groovy The Cynics were crankin’ out some of the most powerful garage records of the day. Here is a live testament to their awesome live shows, recorded Thursday May 3, 1990.

Too bad the fine folks at Teenage Shutdown didn’t crank out more volumes, but don’t despair, the well of garage goodies runs deep my friends. Thanks again for those who have left comments, it is much appreciated.

The band would abandon the psychedelic sound for a more roots rock/country sound on subsequent albums. An often dreamy soundscape with a great organ sound reminiscent of the Doors. This one would fit in nicely along side Rain Parade’s Emergency Third Rail Power Trip. A classic album that deserves a second look.

Nice collection of Massachusetts rock ‘n’ roll from the mid sixties. The title says 27 Gone Garage Classics! - A Trunkload of Gems From Michigan... and I would have to agree, well kind of. Most certainly not top notch sound quality on this set, but that’s the way these things sometimes go. A lot of this stuff is out there with far better sound, however there are some good tunes on this you won’t hear elsewhere, which is what makes this at least somewhat valid. I don’t think volume 2 ever materialized, at least I have never heard of or seen it.

This wonderful volume makes 11 and they only produced 15. This one is guaranteed to satisfy your appetite for great mid sixties garage.

16 lost tracks from the action sixties!
16 lost tracks from the action sixties! Another volume of non stop, no stink garage. This is the 9th volume in the Teenage Shutdown series, and they just keep gettin’ better and better if you ask me.

There is a lot of great tracks on this EVA collection, the liner notes are sparse at best. The first 15 tracks are Florida bands, even though the liners say the Talula Babies are possibly from the Pittsburgh area, track 16  and on are all New Mexico bands. Also of note, the cover says that track 16 is by the Shy Guys Goodbye To You, but in fact this track is not even on the CD, instead track 16 is actually How Can I by the Kreeg. But don’t let the geography and missing track get in the way, just enjoy the tunes for what they are.

An overlooked Detroit band from the 80’s who left behind an album, several singles and tracks on various compilations. And what a great album this is, great bubbly garage with a pop psych touch well played by this obviously talented band. A quick internet search eludes to a 2CD set with tons of unreleased and live tracks along with the original album. Unfortunately this was never released, hopefully someday it will because I would love to hear more from this great band.

Something a little more on the psychedelic side for you all, with you guessed it, plenty of fuzz.
