The Rabble - Leps And Other New Words (1980) M-80

Here is a curious independent record from 1980 released on the M-80 label. Back in the day I saw a video for “Spider” along with “Yellow Pills” by 20/20 and some other more popular bands like the Pretenders. I have searched the internet feverishly to try and find this video, but still have not had any luck in that regard. Every since that day I have been searching for this record, and as fate would have it 20+ years later I finally stumbled upon it. Not only 1 copy but two, seems this record had two variations of artwork. One is billed as being by The Rabble and the other was billed by Mark Hoffman And The Rabble, both have the same songs and sequencing, just different back and front cover artwork.
Band members consisted of James Hansen (drums), Randal Vandal (guitar), Mark Hoffman (vocals), and Vince Santa Maria (bass). The band appears to have been from California possibly calling Los Angeles home. I guess this record would be categorized as new wave, with a more guitar versus synth sound. Overall this is an uneven album, with a few great moments making it an enjoyable listen, just listen to the aforementioned “Spider” and “If You See Kay.”
